THE 20mm f2.8D NIKKOR

I use this lens as a "compact" walk-about lens. When I first got the D700 the 16-35mm had not then been released so this was the nearest I could get to the wide end of my previous 10-20mm Sigma in an affordable UWA. Click and use magnifying glass to see full res.

One of my favourite places is Pwll y Wrach - Witches Pool.HDR from 5 images at f16 ISO 200.

THE 105mm f2.8 VR NIKKOR

This lens, together with the R1 Speedlight, forms an awesome macro package. As well as focussing to 1:1 without the need for tubes etc it also serves as a VERY sharp portrait lens.

D700 Daylight plus 3 SB200 speedlights on R1 mount - 2 seconds @ f45.

P.S. Isn't it amazing how these coins pick up so many dings?

Not just a macro but a good allround lens! D700 f5.6 @ 1/400 ISO 200.

THE 16-35mm f4 VR NIKKOR

This lens, released in February of 2010 is my "standard" lens, which means that it stays on my Nikon D700 camera body most of the time.

It is capable of images such as the above taken at 32mm, f8 @1/250 (D700).

The Nikkor 50mm f1.8

The Nikkor 50mm f1.8 standard lens takes a bit of beating price/quality-wise. This was taken at f2.8 to give just a little more DOF than the maximum aperture allows. With this kind of informal portrait you take what you can get and put up with "distractions". Going for formal portraits with this subject would be a nightmare! The Nikkor 70-300mm AF-S VR
This lens was a revelation in terms of its sharpness and usefullness. Earlier this year I walked around Hay-On-Wye with the D700 set to Manual Exposure (f11 @ 1/250) and Auto ISO (2800).
